ABOUT ME
Welcome to the cauldron of Pickled Aliens Pottery! My name is Jaison and I have been making pottery with creature faces since 2008. My career is teaching art in a local school district. I fell in love with the simple notion of using my hands to form a raw material into a functional vessel.
My customers come from across the country, and I believe the mongrels have such a wide appeal because they embody silliness. I love hearing from past customers about how my pieces are received as gifts, or stories that continue the personification of these little creatures.
ABOUT MY MONGRELS
My mongrels, monsters, creatures, and goobers are full of character—each one tells a story. My work is based in wheel throwing and pinch pot techniques with the faces and other features sculpted on. Each monster mug, jug, or spoon rest is uniquely handmade and named. You can find the tangled lineage of my creature spoon rests at SPOON REST GENOME. I enjoy working with multiple clay bodies
for surface color and texture variation. My pottery is fired in electric and wood kilns to cone 5/6.
Pickled Aliens Pottery brings you love from a world of creatures made in clay.
Pickled Aliens are sold on Etsy and local markets. Past markets include I Made It!, Handmade Arcade, and Last Minute Market.
