June is a time for kicking off summer and that always involves multiple projects.  Some of these projects are dreamed up when there still is snow on the ground and no trace of green to be found.  I spent a couple days helping a friend get his wood-fire kiln building project underway in Grove City.  Reminiscing about firing Professor Wukich's years ago reminds me of the things I wrote about in Paths in Clay.  The first night,  lightning bugs in the grove behind his house flashed like cameras at a sold out stadium concert when the house lights first go down.  We talked a lot about the simple process that will be the firing ritual.  I look forward to putting a few pots in there and igniting the firebox.
